Background
I am a foreign language specialist, with a B.A. and M.A. in French (Occidental
College) and a Ph.D. in Linguistics (Cornell University). I am a native
speaker of English, have near native fluency in French, possess basic communicative
skills in Spanish.
I have over 30 years experience teaching French language and linguistics at all undergraduate levels. My areas of specialization are language curriculum design and instructional technology.
Professional Activities
As Director of the Language Center I am responsible for overseeing the teaching
of required and elective language courses for the entire University. It
is also my responsibility to meet the foreign language technology needs
of students, provide faculty training in instructional technology, and promote
the development of pedagogical materials. I also teach linguistics and instructional
technology courses in the School of Humanities.
I have a long association with CALICO (Computer-Assisted Language Instruction
Consortium) holding the following positions within the organization:

I am likewise an active member of the International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT) and am the serving Editor of the Language Center Design Kit and the Digital Language Lab Solutions manual. I was awarded the Henderson Prize for the best presentation at the IALLT 2003 conference.
